It’s Blogmas day 20! Today I am sharing my favorite Christmas gifts I’ve received through the years. Some are sentimental, some are practical, and others are just things I remember really wanting. Maybe these gifts will even give you some ideas for your Christmas giving this year if you haven’t finished your shopping yet!
Log Cabin Dollhouse
When I was around eight years old, I received the most adorable little log cabin dollhouse from my parents. It was a two-story dollhouse complete with dormers and a stone fireplace. After I received the gift I learned that my dad had actually built it for me. I spent hours as a child playing with the cutest little miniature Barbie type dolls in that dollhouse. It’s such a special gift to me because my dad made it. I still have it packed away in storage and can’t wait to pass it down to my children someday.
Family Recipe Book
Every year for as long as I can remember, our Christmas Eve tradition was to get together with family at my MawMaw’s house. (I’ll share more on this tradition in another post) One year during our annual Christmas Eve gathering, my MawMaw gave each of her granddaughters a handmade recipe book filled with family recipes. All of the recipes that we enjoyed every holiday were in it as well as other family favorites. It’s been a gift that I have used over and over again through the years.
My MawMaw also gifted each of her grandkids a handmade quilt that had family photos in each square. Not only did she take the time to make a quilt for each one of us, but she also went through hundreds of photos to find the ones that would be most special to each of us. It’s one of the most treasured gifts that I’ve ever received.
I remember telling my mom that I wanted an iPad for Christmas when she asked me what I wanted for Christmas one year. They had just come out and were expensive! Christmas morning arrived and we opened all of the gifts under the tree except for one. It was a gift to both myself and my brother. We opened the gift together and found a paper with a clue written on it. We spent the next few minutes searching all around inside and outside of the house for clues to find the final gift. Our last clue led us to the large coffee table trunk in our living room where we found packages for each of us. Inside of the packages were iPads! My parents had even had them engraved “Merry Christmas, Love Mom & Dad”. I cried, not because it was an iPad but because it was something I had really wanted and my parents made it so special for me.
Things I Love
Last year for Christmas my mom gave me a gift that was one of my favorite gifts I’ve ever received. Not because of what it was, but because of the fact that it was so thoughtful of her to do what she did to get it. She went into Sephora and had them pull up my account. Then she purchased all of the most frequently purchased items from it! She purchased everything from foundation to mascara and even my makeup primer. Everything was in a big gift bag and she even included makeup remover pads and nail polish remover. It was one of my favorite gifts I’ve ever gotten because it was so thoughtful of her to purchase all of these items since she knew that I already use them.
