It’s Blogmas day 23! It was a very cold and rainy day here so it made for the perfect day to cozy up inside and decorate gingerbread houses. I picked up gingerbread house kits at Publix a few days ago and the houses came already assembled. Score! All we had to do was decorate them. I thought it would be fun to do a little challenge with these houses so today my brother and I went to Walmart to pick out whatever we wanted to use to decorate with. The only rule was that all of the decorations had to be edible. Let’s see if everyone can guess which house each of us decorated!
Little Fishing Cabin
This is a log cabin gingerbread house with a covering of pretzels. It has caramel windows, a chocolate door with a candy doorknob, and a cereal roof. The decorations include a Goldfish cracker sign and candy lights. In the landscape, you’ll find premade Christmas tree decorations, a fondant snowman, peppermint bark pathway, and shredded coconut snow.
There are also candy icicles hanging off of each side of the house!
Cozy Farmhouse Cottage
This little farmhouse has shiplap made of fondant, a chimney of graham crackers and pretzels, and a sliced almond roof. The door, shutters, and windows are all made from fondant and hand painted with food coloring. The wreath and garland are made from oregano with candy berries. The landscape of the house features a graham cracker crumb pathway and shredded coconut snow. If you look closely you’ll see Santa peeking out of the chimney!
The back of the house features a large handprinted fondant Christmas tree with candy decorations.
